Youth Development- Projects working with people under the age of 18

Projects that work with youth under the age of 18 are commonly referred to as Youth Development Programs.

Youth under 18 are considered a vulnerable population and as such, require special consideration. Above all, your job is to ensure the safety and well-being of the children and youth entrusted to your care.

Adult staff (including volunteers) who regularly work with youth must have a completed background check BEFORE contact with youth. (Please note: youth staff and volunteers who are themselves under 18 do not need to complete a background check.) To request a background check, please contact socialgood@socialgoodfund.orgenvelope. Background checks currently cost $45 per person.

Youth Development Programs are responsible for being aware of any local or state regulations as it relates to running youth development programs in their area and to be in compliance with those regulations, such as regulations related to mandated child abuse reporting, etc... Further, youth development programs are highly encouraged and may be required to have their staff (including volunteers) trained in basic child first aid and CPR.

Generic registration forms, field trip forms, and release of liability forms for Youth Development programs (English and Spanish) are available for download on the Member’s Portal.arrow-up-right You are free to edit and modify them to meet your needs. However, please DO NOT edit the liability sections as they are carefully worded to help protect you. Every parent/guardian must sign the waiver forms.
