Insurance
(The following applies to Model A Project ONLY)
In general, Social Good Fund requires projects to limit their liability in all reasonable ways. But we try our best to prepare in the case that something happens.
Social Good Fund carries General Liability insurance that covers most common activities. There are exceptions, however. Some projects, due to the nature of their mission, will require extra insurance to cover their liability at all times. And many other projects will need extra insurance for an occasional activity (a public event, for example).
Social Good Fund also carries Worker’s Compensation and Directors & Officers insurance.
If your project is engaged in any of the following kinds of work/activities, you will likely need extra insurance to operate properly. Is your project:
Providing professional services (e.g. anything requiring a license, case management, homecare, etc.)
Working with youth or other vulnerable populations on more than an occasional basis.
Regularly transporting/driving program participants, especially if it is using a commercial vehicle.
Traveling internationally with program participants.
Insurance concerns are typically addressed during the inquiry and on-boarding phase of becoming a sponsored project. If, for some reason it was not covered, or you’ve since begun engaging in one of the activities listed above, it is your responsibility to contact via the Event Notification Form on the Member’s Portal to let us know. Allow a minimum of 30 days.
