Do I Need Event Insurance?

If you answer yes to any of the following questions, you probably need more insurance:

  • Are you contemplating an event with more than 50 people?

  • Are you contemplating an event with alcohol?

  • Are you contemplating an event/program with “dangerous” activities such as swimming, boating, water park, horseback riding, shooting projectiles, rodeo, motorcycles, skydiving, etc. or other sports activities? (Please note, this is not an exhaustive list. Further, there are limits to what SGF will allow a project to do.)

  • Are you contemplating an event in a public place?

  • Are you contemplating field trips or an overnight event/program?

  • Are you contemplating an event/programming utilizing licensed services of any kind that may require professional or malpractice insurance? E.g. a wellness program working with a Clinical Social Worker.

Please note, the above IS NOT an exhaustive list. To be safe, you should alert us of any special event beyond your typical activities to ascertain if more insurance is necessary.

Rallies/Protests/Marches: Unfortunately, at this time, we are unable to allow projects to organize or participate in rallies, protests, or marches of any kind because we are unable to secure insurance coverage for these activities. Please do not participate in any of these types of activities in the name of your project. You must use the Event Notification Formarrow-up-right to alert us about your events so that we can evaluate whether or not more insurance must be purchased. Once received, we will determine whether or not your event requires additional insurance (beyond our general liability policy). If it is determined that your event will require additional insurance we will request a quote from our broker and then notify you about the cost to your project. Please allow 30 business days for this process.
