Depositing Checks or Cash Directly into the SGF bank account
Projects can directly deposit properly documented cash or checks that are written out to Social Good Fund, into Social Good Fund’s Chase Account following the procedures below.
Note: Please, do not mail cash. If going to a Chase Bank is not possible, please convert the cash to a USPS money order and send it to us at the mailing address indicated in the previous "hardcopy checks" section along with receipts/supporting documentation.
Also, please do not deposit cash into your personal (non-Social Good Fund) bank account and then write a check to Social Good Fund for the amount you deposited. Any funds that do not go directly into our bank account will not be tax-deductible for the donor.
Steps for depositing checks:
Photocopy or take a picture of all checks; in case of cash, make sure you have (a) receipt(s) clearly identifying the source(s) of funds*
Go to any Chase branch and complete a deposit slip using SGF’s Chase bank account number: 200399753
In case of multiple checks, add up the amount of the checks before you deposit. Make a note of that total. Then double check the amount you thought the deposit should be with the total on the deposit slip. (This is to check against any bank error from the scanning machines in identifying the amount of a check.)
Do not endorse the check(s) - leave the back blank. The bank has a stamp that verifies they are depositing into the account requested. The teller will stamp all checks for you.
Write the project name on the deposit slip
Make sure to collect the deposit slip after completing the deposit, and then upload that deposit slip (and additionally, in case of cash, copies of cash receipts) into the Deposit Notification Form to let us know you've made a deposit. We have many projects depositing each day and it helps us to get the funds into your project account more quickly.
*All cash transactions must be accompanied by a receipt. We highly recommend you purchase a receipt book (in duplicate) if you anticipate accepting money at an event or fundraiser. Keep the receipts for your records for three years. We may ask for them to ensure you are handling cash properly.
